Profile
Dr Erasmus H. Owusu is a Conservation Biologist with a PhD in Biodiversity Management and has extensive knowledge of conservation issues in Ghana and Africa. He has 20 years functional experience in biodiversity management in different capacities with special interest in community-based natural resource management and protected areas management planning. Until 2010, he was the Executive Director of the Ghana Wildlife Society which is the largest national conservation NGO in Ghana. Dr Owusu is a member of the National Biodiversity Committee and was part of the team that developed the national biodiversity strategy for Ghana. He was the current chairman of the National Wetlands Committee of Ghana. Within the period he has supervised a number of students’ projects at both graduate and undergraduate levels and published fifteen scientific articles in refereed journals. At the international level, Dr Owusu is a current member of the Global Council of BirdLife International (UK). He was the chair of the Council of African Partners of BirdLife International between 2005 and 2006 and currently a member of the African Regional Committee of BirdLife International..
